/ Gary Cantor’s path to Durham’s UNC
November 25, 2017
Gary Cantor started the path toward his career at the young age of just 13. He knew as just a child that the medical industry was his goal, but that pursuit became increasingly defined at 13 years old when a YouTube video by researcher Dr. Aubrey DeGrey sparked his interests in the medical research field. Since then, Floridian Cantor has been driven toward this end goal. He achieved a Bachelor of Science in biology from the University of Florida in 2012, including a four-month internship in cancer research, before moving to Durham, N.C. and beginning his graduate studies. Today, he is in his fourth year as a PhD candidate at the University of North Carolina in the genetics and molecular biology department, and still holding strong to the medical research goals of his teenage youth.
